The wet market

This morning we took a short walk just outside the compound to
explore. One stop was the "grocery store" that was in the background
of the bus stop picture. Turns out it's a wet market where you buy
fresh meats, vegetables, etc. As I was standing next to & staring at
some chicken claws in an open case, I got startled as this woman plops
down a live hen in front a scale I happened to be standing in front
of. A bit freaked out, I watched as she told the buyer how much it
weighed while she held another hen in her hand. The buyer accepted and
went off with the hens. My brother and I look at each other and he
said, "Oh it's goin' down right in front of us". I didn't want to
witness this so I started to walk away but the boys & Emily followed
her and saw the process. Ella, not wanting to be left out and ever so
the tomboy at times, ran with them. I won't tell you what they
described to me but I truly must find the stomach strength to become a
vegetarian.

Oh Mel! Now I may join you as a future vegetarian. Missin' you & wishing I would run into you & the kids at LtF or that we could even just go have dinner at Mangia. So glad you found the IKEA. ;o)
