Two Days of School

Two days of school down and weekend to rest & get ready for our first
full week next week. Kids were happy with school & had good days.
Some of their comments:
• Emily: "lunch was good...I really liked this chicken-thingy on a stick..."
• Stephen: "...some people got detention already!"
• Ella: "this school has a lot of rules"

Pick up is still CRAZY! Imagine fellow elementary school parents, if
there were only two options for your child to exit the school: the bus
or a 10 ft wide entrance (no car pickup line). Then add about 200
more kids. Not pretty. The classes do come out a bit staggered but
still.... My mom said it looks like when you get off the plane and
you see like 50 people lined up holding signs of who they are looking
for. It's overwhelming to have all these people staring at you as you
walk off the jetway--looking at you and then seeing their face turn to
disappointment when you aren't who they were looking for. Add to it
that these are K-5th graders who are looking UP at these taller
adults. Personally it reminds me of the red carpet, at like the
Grammys...all these fans lined on the sides clamoring for your
attention. My kids always look a bit nervous when they walk "the
carpet" - not sure if it's overwhelming or they just are wondering if
I'll not show up b/c they think I'll be late. Not that I've ever had
to call a friend to grab my kid at school bc I was late or anything
(Austin friends, the check is in the mail).

Here's to the weekend!

I finally subscribed to your blog and now I'm all caught up! Looks like you all are doing great and the kids are getting settled in at school. I hope you are getting your house put together and life soon returns to normal, albeit a new normal! Looking forward to the next post and more pics! Take care! Katie

Hey Katie - thanks for reading. Not sure how interesting it is but life is good. Every time it settles, something new happens but hey, that's probably what life is like with 4 anyway, no? ;*)

Loved their comments about school. Each one matched each kid. Made me laugh.
