Mosquito Season

We now have 11 months under our belt here and we're starting to see the different "seasons".  We endured frigid temps, several weeks of beautiful spring weather, and now the infamous summers.  It's interesting, here they define "seasons" when the temperature hits a certain degree (or higher) for like 5 days in a row.  If on the 4th day it doesn't make it that high, then it's not officially that season (summer, winter, fall, spring).  We are finally in summer now and I can honestly say it is just gross.  :*)  We had a taste of it in August last year when we moved here.  It is truly humid right now and while it's not a new feeling (as Texas had it's own nasty days) it just seems more unbearable since you walk so much here.  Combine it with some good ol' pollution and it's just sticky, thick air, several showers a day is a requirement.

The other "season" I feel like we're in is mosquito season.  Holy Moly the mosquitoes here are vicious and take no prisoners!  They bite you and then by the time you feel it, they're gone.  (At least the ones in the US were slow and you could slap them.)  The bites create huge welts and will itch for almost a week.  So I've started my arsenal of weapons...
There are these plug-ins that don't have a scent but apparently are mosquito repellents for a room.  One is a liquid and the other is a pad.  The liquid is like those room plug-in scents they have at Bath and Body Works but these kill mosquitoes.  I'm desperate so I'm trying it but I really am a bit skeptical about a liquid that you cannot smell and can kill a mosquito but not a human.  Hmmm...some friends say it works and is fine...another friend today said the scent that apparently can paralyze a mosquito.  What it is this stuff??! I just can't believe that's a good thing for humans to breathe either.  I probably won't buy any more but I really wish I could read the Chinese to see what the heck are the ingredients.  You'd think Raid is a reliable brand . . . but in China, you just never know . . .   My next purchase is the electric tennis racquet looking things that you use to zap flies and mosquitoes.  The racket face/net-type area has some electricity running through it . . . problem is we never know if it's working because neither Sammy or I wants to touch it to see if the current is there.  :*)
