Oh man, it's been over a month since I last posted! Sheesh! I've written entries in my head daily but somehow they never make it to the computer. Plus we were off and on with VPN service so that didn't help.
We are alive and well here. We have about a month of school to go. Boy it's dragging! I think mentally the kids are shutting down as this is about the time school winds down in the States so it's been difficult to encourage them to keep studying for another month.
We have decided to stay here for the summer. Summer here is supposed to be brutally hot and humid. Most of my friends will be returning to the California or Canada or Eastern US and can use the opportunity to "cool" down a bit. When we thought about it, we'd go back to Houston . . . uh, not a whole lot of difference in climate for the summer. Boo! So we're staying . . . until I find that magic cheap airfare and believe me, we'll be on that plane faster than you can blink.
As for life here lately . . . as usual, interesting. Last week, after I dropped the kids off at school, I saw a man peeing near the bushes on my walk home. These aren't high bushes and he wasn't particularly hiding himself. He was just . . . well, relieving himself in the bushes. Two days in a row this happened . . . my friend and I joked that it must be a special spot - you know, how like dogs smell a spot and then pee on it. :*)
I went early a couple weeks ago to the farmer's market or wet market. Not a good idea. Too early meant I got to see a pig's head on the floor and bones everywhere. Must become vegetarian. Must become vegetarian.
We recently got a bike seat for Eva and now the entire family can use bikes as a means of transportation. If you thought we drew attention . . . well, we draw a lot of attention on our bikes. We are a long procession of bicycles. People we pass turn their head each time one of us passes - like they're saying 'what??! another one??!' It's even more "exciting" if we're riding as it gets dark because we turn on our blinking red bike lights - - we look like a *parade* during Christmas!
We rode to a park nearby. The littlest spent her time meeting people . . . this is her probably trying to see if the woman would let her have one of those smoothies.
This park was so interesting. They had the typical playscape but had another section which visually looks like fun playscape type toys but upon closer inspection, they're really just glorified exercise machines. Here is some sort of ab machine and a simplified elliptical.
Eva's next victim. She "borrowed" this girl's purse for a little while . . . much to the girl's dismay.
And yes . . . a-gain . . .
Random picture . . . these women were on the subway. I just thought it looked so amusing ... their different shoes paired with similar hose . . . I thought panty hose died a long time ago . . .
