- Ayi - having someone - even if it is only for 5 hours - who will cook and clean is definitely the nicest perk to living here.
- Not having a car - it's kinda nice to not have to worry about driving here or owning a car; freeing in a sense. And after one year, I think I have stopped praying every time I get into a taxi . . .
- Our house - it's larger than our Austin one and it's nice to have the space and not be responsible (we're renting) for things that break down.
- Fresh veggies and fruit - wow, you can't beat the freshness of these here. They are literally picked from the garden each day. I have one fruit vendor who will even deliver my heavy watermelon to my house if I like!
- Delivery - delivery of food and groceries is so inexpensive! Papa Johns delivery is only $1. I can buy milk (in tetra paks bc we typically drink exported milk) online and have it delivered for free - no heavy carrying - love it!
- Tetra pak milk - they are packaged in cartons and are shelf-stable so you can buy many and store in the cupboard and not ever be out of milk (unless you're not paying attention to the stash getting low like I did this weekend).
- Bubba's & other American restaurants - thank goodness for this odd named restaurant with the best burgers ever and decorated with a Texas-theme.
- Smoothies - wow you can get all kinds of smoothies here and there's one not too far from us that has some great smoothies for a whopping $1.50! Sweeeeeet!
- New friends - love the new friends we've met who are from all over the world. Without them it'd be a tough stay here.
- Family bonding - for some reason we have more time to spend together and rely on each other's company here which has created a nice close bond for all of us. Nevermind that Ella said, "I love my family (pause)... I don't know why I'm mean to Stephen though."
Here's to another good year of learning and adventure!!
